DCC bets shine in Daprisa chess-A A +A

DAVAO Central College (DCC) bets captured titles at the close of the Davao Association of Private Schools and Administrators, Inc. (Daprisa) chess competition at DCC campus in Toril recently.
DCC swept the grade school boys and girls team titles.
The DCC grade school boys team of Eric Yngayo and Matt Christian Vallente earned a total of 10 points for the gold medal while Davao Wisdom Academy’s Earl Rhay Mantilla and James Rhie Sullano combined for nine points to settle for silver. Davao Holy Trinity Academy's Steven Leoumer Cajucom and Danryll de Castro copped the bronze with seven points.
Yngayo scored perfect six points to snatch the grade school boys individual gold over Mantilla and King Christopher Alogon of Monserrat Camp School de Davao who took the silver and bronze, respectively.
DCC's grade school girls tandem of Lorraine and Irish Yngayo tallied 12 points to pocket the team gold over Dona Pilar Learning Center's Mary Frances Varquez (8.0) and Nicole Beatriz Ganzon and Davao Holy Trinity Academy's Cathymae Anonuevo and Eloisa Mae Abejaron (7.0) who grabbed the next two spots instead.
Lorraine, however, bested fellow perfect six-pointer Irish via superior tiebreaks to clinch the grade school girls individual gold as the latter got the silver and teammate Florence Faith Guevarra salvaged the bronze with 4.5 points.
In High School division, the Davao Wisdom Academy made 10 points to annex the boys team gold through the joint efforts of Allen Davin de Asis and Filmore Luy, Jr. while Brokenshire College of Toril's (BCT) Cuthbert Marie Oberez and Miguel Philip Pulido (9.0) seized the silver and Precious International School of Davao's Jason Dwight Camartin and Karl Dominic Carigo (8.0) ended up with the bronze.
The girls team gold, meanwhile, went to International College of St. Ignatius de Loyola (Icsil) (9.0) that was represented by Christine Mae Garces and Aubrey Balangauan. DCC pair Caissa Jane Guevarra and Renneh Mae Asilum and St. Patrick Math-Sci School's Joanne Micaela Ancheta and Real Lyn Castillon made identical eight points to take the next two places.
De Asis, who won all his six games, bagged the High School boys individual gold over DCC's Matthew Kyle Tiamson (5.0) and Cuthbert Marie Oberez (5.0) of BCT while DWA's Zsuzsa Grace Tabudlong pocketed the girls gold at the expense of Joanne Micaela Ancheta of St. Patrick Math-Sci School and Christine Mae Garces of Icsil.
Top performers will advance to the Davao City Athletic Association Meet this month. (MLSA)
