Carolino, Miranda top Merco run-A A +A

UNHERALDED Jobert Carolino and veteran Judelyn Mirando bagged 10K titles in the Merco 67th Anniversary Fun Run held Sunday at Rizal Park.
Carolino clocked 33 minutes and 24 seconds to rule the men's event while Elmer Bartolo followed shortly in 33:25 to place second. Michael Barrosa came third with a time of 34:44.
Michael Echalico, James Pete Aboabo, James Paul Aboabo, and Crisante Villarente took the next four spots in the annual run, now on its eighth year, organized by Mercantile Corporation (Merco) and sponsored by Selecta and Orient Glass.
Miranda, for her part, timed 40:53 to clinch the women's title over Criselyn Jaro and Emily Avergonzado of Brokenshire College. Jaro (44:02) and Avergonzado (44:38) finished second and third, respectively, while Mae Barit, Judy Ann Montibon, Cecel Jaro and Merlie Aguan trailed behind.
In the 5-kilometer (5K), Arnie Macaneras checked in at 17:13 to capture the men's crown. He raced past Mark Traya (17:29) who grabbed the runner-up honors and Joppe Sabitan (17:52) who placed third.
Rounding up the top 10 were Semon Gubal, James Castillo, Vall Angelo Angel, Ronnie Manding, Kevin Ferenale, Radhpnnar Messa and Genus Malacura.
The women's 5K title went to Diane Mae Memoracion who outran her rivals with a record of 19:57. She bested Rosenelyn Dupillo (19:59) and Vivian Avergonzado (20:45).
Dymie Rose Jaro, Marie Caintic, Junalyn Dorado, Ada Llano, Norissa Goc-Ong, Bebelyn Caham and Maricel Dimaluan made it to the top 10.
Rico Jay Dayon (10:21), meanwhile, annexed the male 3K title over Edrian Bentulan (10:30) and Jonnel Rasay (10:31) even as Frencis Mae Dayon (13:14) topped the distaff side over Francisquette Lerin (16:14) and Florian May Besana (17:20).
Antonio Salvador, Roberto Cain and Marvin Tomado were the first three finishers in the run with pet category.
Cash prizes, trophies and gift certificates were awarded to the winners of the run that benefited Maharlika Charity Foundation.
Vantage Sports Promotions handled the technical side of the event.
