A busy month for volleyball-A A +A
Sunday, November 3, 2013
NOVEMBER 2013 is the busiest month so far for volleyball where three major tournaments are being piled up in three successive weeks starting Nov. 4 to 8 of the Davao City Athletic Association followed by the November 12 to 16 Shakey’s Girls V-League Mindanao Championship and the November 10 to 25 Batang Pinoy Games nationwide in Bacolod City.
Due to tight budgeting experienced by athletes, mostly the underprivileged, we have accessed local support to send Batang Pinoy athletes in volleyball, who are seeking participation in the Bacolod games for the first time. Coach Soledad Torino said for the Davao City NHS team, the Bacolod sortie is one good exposure and being there for the nationwide meet is already a success.
In the meantime, Davao City NHS will defend its volleyball titles starting with the DCAA Meet this week. Expected to mount a strong frontline with stronger backline attack for the defending champion are Lycha Crisanto Ebon, Lyle Darren Amora and Elsa Samanion. Jel Peña, Samantha Nicole Dizon and Jubilee Therese Acosta lead the front zone for Ateneo de Davao.
After the long holidays spent mostly in the cemeteries to remember the dear departed ones, the games at the different fields come back to life with volleyball expected to be most hectic.
