IT'S all systems go for the 1st KCGP Inter-Media Tenpin Bowling Tournament set to roll off at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the NCCC Mall B3 Center lanes.
Kingking Copper Gold Project (KCGP) media coordinator MJ Maranion bared this during yesterday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall B3 Center.
"We have some 82 tri-media practitioners in 14 teams that have confirmed to join the tournament. They are excited to join this event. We hope to make this an annual competition," Maranion said.
She said participants are from tri-media outlets in Davao City and Pantukan, Compostela Valley.
All 14 teams entered will play one game each in the elimination round. The top four teams will then compete in the best four finals.
Maranion said, "One staff from KCGP will join each of the teams as a way of promoting camaraderie not just among media personnel but also with our company. This is just a fun tournament for our media friends."
Cash prizes await winners of the bowlfest patterned after the now defunct Lapanday Tri-Media bowling tournament.
Organizers said the top scorer and other individual awardees will also receive prizes.
A get-together party will follow after the championship round of the bowling meet supported by San Miguel Brewery, Inc.
It can be recalled that KCGP came to the rescue of Davao City's top junior chess player Austin Jacob Literatus whose funding problems almost cost his stint in the 2013 National Age-Group Chess Championships in Taguig, Metro Manila held April this year.
Maranion said they plan to bring Literatus, who is now with the National University chess varsity team, to Pantukan to hold exhibition games with children there.
