A TOTAL donation of P9,800 was raised at the close of the “Padyak Para sa Leyte,” a night ride for a cause, held recently at the City Hall Grounds.
Mayor Rody Duterte Cycling Team manager Salvador "Jun" Paholio Jr., also PhilCycling deputy secretary-general for Mindanao, thanked all participants who came to support the charity ride for Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Leyte.
"The money raised was turned over to "Lihuk Leyteno", a project of the office of Councilor Leo Avila III. His office will bring the donation to Leyte," Paholio, whose clan comes from Matalom, Leyte, said in a statement furnished to Sun.Star Davao.
He thanked the 94 riders from 17 cycling clubs who joined the 20-kilometer ride that was jointly organized by the Mayor Rody Duterte Cycling Team, Cycle for Life, Terrain Challenger 611 and Mumho Riders.
Lihuk Leyteno, according to Paholio, is a group of concerned Filipinos led by Dabawenyos with roots in Leyte to extend help to Yolanda survivors.
It's interesting to note that Mayor Duterte was born in Maasin, Leyte.
Other clubs that participated were Trikids Davao, Simuna, Davao Da-folding Bikes Society, Biker Boys, Ideal Pawnshop, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, R. Castillo Sunday Bikers, Angkol Bikers, CFL/DDS, Andico Outdoor, MBA Magsaysay Bikers, Sagidas DC, Scuba and Asai.
