Pairat tops Elderlympics chess-A A +A

BUHANGIN player Lino Pairat topped the just-concluded Elderlympics 2013 chess competition held at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym.
Pairat scored perfect five points to rule the five-round Swiss System format competition organized as part of the annual Elderlympics, dubbed, "Active Ageing".
He bested 16 other woodpushers including Merardo Heruela of Sasa District and Calixto Torreon of Toril District who garnered four points each to place second and third, respectively.
Baguio District player Rudy Demerey earned 3.5 points to finish fourth while Talomo-A bets Jaime Bacorro and Jun Sonsona along with Buhangin entries Romulo Fornillos and Reynaldo Yap tallied similar 3.0 to grab the next four spots.
Solo 2.5 scorer Natano Omictin of Baguio District and Poblacion-B's Adolfo Bonior rounded up the top 10. The latter led four other two-pointers Raul Soliva of Poblacion A, Cris Lanorias of Agdao District, Prisciano Marimon of Lasang and Nestor Maestro of Talomo District.
Trailing behind were City A's Teodoro Abad, Buhangin's Francis Valde and Toril's Jose Basan who each made one point in the chess event organized as part of the sportsfest for senior citizens.
It was held in coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office and National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). (MLSA)
