300 riders expected in ‘Padyakan’-A A +A

OVER 300 riders will vie for honors when the DC Invest Padyakan sa Pasko unreels on Dec. 22 from the Barangay Hall of Maa.
PhilCycling deputy secretary general for Mindanao Salvador Paholio Jr., also chair of the Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative (DCSCC), disclosed this during yesterday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall B3 lanes.
He said on-site registration will start at 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. at the Maa Elementary School covered court. Gun start will be at 7:30 a.m. for the 25-kilometer fun ride event from Maa going to Libby road passing Barangay Baliok and Toril then going to the national highway and back to origin.
Fun riders, however, will compete in the turle ride, longest wheely and fastest tire assemble events inside the covered court.
"The actual race will yet start at 9 a.m. consisting of two events for road bike open elite and executive A," he said.
Six events in mountain bike feature the executive B, veterans (31-39), masters (40-49), junior (22 under), midget (18 under) and golden boys (50-above) and road bike or MTB for the ladies division.
Registration fee is P350 inclusive of DC Invest Padyakan sa Pask t-shirt, Smart pre-paid SIM pack, lunch pack and raffle ticket. The first 100 fun riders will receive an Atleta singlet.
Paholio said raffle prizes include a 1.7 kgs. mountain bike fram, 15 original US baseball caps and grocery items.
He said, "The city may have scrapped this year's Pahalipay sportsfest but we are happy to hold this event for Christmas in coordination with the SDD-CMO (Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office) and Barangay Council of Maa.
Cash prizes and medals await individual winners while team winners will get cash prizes and trophies. (MLSA)
