Liga Bata 2014 Futsal League launched at SM-A A +A

THE launch of the Liga Bata 2014 Futsal League was met with success last Saturday at the SM Lanang Premier fountain area.
The league will run for a year, and aside from the games there will be futsal coaching and refereeing workshops, a sports medicine workshop and a development officers workshop to be held in the same venue.
SM Lanang Premier Asst. Mall Manager Jerome Yeo was thankful for their mall being selected as the venue for the event, as well as being able to be part of the development of the talent of the young athletes, coaches, referees and administrators.
Maharlika Sports Development Institute Inc. Technical Director David Dwight Peñano also said that the league is a good way to develop the abilities of the children.
“This is one of the best way that we can develop our gift, Maharlika is really initiating, pushing that the through efforts of equal opportunities of sports because other places ay walang chances to play. And we’re very thankful for giving us the opportunities to enhance the skills and discover athletes,” Peñano said as he delivered a message during the program.
Davao del Norte Governor Del Rosario Rodulfo also sent a message through hi representative, Sports Science Officer Kris Msihael P. Junasa, saying that the event and the activities to be held have a lot of benefits especially for the children, particularly in unity and friendship. He also siad that it helps keep the children away from drugs and serves as an avenue for them to become good leaders in the future.
DepEd Davao City division Sports & Values Coordinator Dr. Jima A. Helomo, representative of Department of Education (DepEd) Superintendent Helen Paguican thanked those behind the program, as this also serves as a preparation for their agency to create special programs for sports.
“DepEd is very much thankful to the people and organizations to mold the youth to become a good citizen in the country through sports. Daghang Salamat kaayo especially to Maharlika,” Helemo said.
Gawad Kalinga Officer Kevin Goco also said that this helps give direction in the children's lives, helping them try to realize their dreams through sports.
Maharlika Sports Development Institute Inc. Executive Director Edgar L. Te also thanked everyone who supported them and made the league possible.
The Liga Bata Futsal League 2014 was organized by the MSDII along with Globe Telecom, Inc., Deped, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), SM Lanang Premier and Sun.Star Davao in cooperation with the Philippine Futsal Committee.
The beneficiaries of the event are public and private schools in the city, out-of-school youth, Gawad Kalinga and Bantay Bata.
The games will run for four months in the 10-under, 13-under, 16-under, elementary girls 12-under and elementary girls 16-under. 200 elementary and high school football and gutsal teams from Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental and Island Garden City of Samal will compete against each other.
In the exhibition match played, the Davao selection team dominated their opponents from the Fountain International School of Turkey with a score of 8-3. (MSR)
