ACD, HCCD lead cagefest-A A +A

THE Assumption College of Davao (ACD) and Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) posted huge wins against their respective rivals to keep a share of the lead in the recent resumption of the Sea Oil National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League Davao at Ladislawa Garden Village Gym.
Coached by Tristan Balino, ACD clobbered Emar Human and Environmental College, 81-73, behind Allyn Bulanadi's 31 points. Michael Jay Gonzaga and Mahloney Tarranza added 13 and nine points, respectively, for ACD.
Judel Ric Fuentes and Stephen Curada combined for 45 as Emar absorbed its second straight defeat.
HCCD Reds, meanwhile, thrashed Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings, 85-56.
Vincent Angelo Fernandez sank 22 for the Nestor Sorrosa-mentored Reds as teammates Phil Ian Ferriols and Patrick Bryle Mariano chipped in 18 and 13. Jean Claude Cabrera led JMC's losing cause with 14 markers.
ACD and HCCD, thus, retained their unbeaten slate with a 2-0 win-loss card to pace bracket A. The 0-1 Ateneo de Davao University, 0-1 JMC and 0-2 Emar trailed in the current team standings.
In other games, Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines (AIFCP) University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 52-43, while Ford clobbered Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS), 57-50.
Agro toted a 2-0 card to lead bracket B while 1-0 Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) placed second and 1-1 Ford in third. UIC (0-1) and DRANHS (0-2) were at the bottom.
Games will resume on Saturday at the Ladislawa Gym pitting HCDC against UIC at 9:30 a.m., Ateneo vs JMC at 11 a.m., Agro vs DRANHS at 1 p.m. and HCCD vs ACD at 2:30 p.m.
The top two teams in each bracket will advance to the crossover semi-finals en-route to the championship set on Jan. 26. (MLSA)
