THE Team Intangibles FC, an all Filipino team, annexed the Palos Verdes Futsal Community League title on Wednesday evening at the Rancho Palos Verdes Sports and Country Club in Maa.
Intangibles FC defeated Solido Football Club, 4-1, to keep their unbeaten slate since the tournament started on Dec. 4.
Intangibles FC manager Francis Jay Catubag, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said it was not easy to be on top and all the previous games that they played on the league mostly ended up tight, usually scoring 2-1.
“It takes a lot of hard work and patience to play futsal. This is not an easy sport but it is our passion for football that made us win the game,” Catubag said.
Catubag said that this year is filled with many opportunities for their team. “This is our third championship title for futsal this year. We are thankful that we won in the previous futsal league during Araw ng Dabaw and Kadayawan,” he added.
He also thanked the organizers of Palos Verdes Futsal Community League for inviting them to compete with great players from Solido Football Club, Faith Mix, composed of South American players, Instatech FC, N&M United, combined team of Nepalese and Malaysian players, and Team UN, bannered by European players.
In other games, Team UN routed N&M United, 6-1. There was a little tension when a player from N&M pushed the referee in what the player thought was a bad decision.
Futsal Community League organizer Buboy Arrieta, also a player of Solido Football Club, said they are used to such incidents, adding that players remain friends after the games.
Faith Mix held Instatech FC into a draw while Solido FC escaped a 5-4 win over N&M United and UN turned back Instatech FC, 4-1.
Team UN placed second while Solido and N&M finished third and fourth, respectively. Instatech FC was fifth while Faith Mix came sixth.
Trophies were awarded to the winners during the closing rites. (Merle Dawn Comidoy)
