ON A winning streak since the elimination round, Biboy Race Davao City, a proudly Davaoeno team, claimed victory at the Shakir Table Tennis Open Christmas Tournament held on December 21-22 at Shakir Table Tennis Center, General Santos City.
Biboy Race Davao City was headed by Captain Ruel Brian Plazos with its members, Novem Isidor, Gil Ablanque and Mary Rose Ganiwan.
A total of 10 teams from different parts of Mindanao competed against each other at the tournament. Biboy Race Davao City (Davao team) was the champion, while Shakir A (Gensan team) landed in second place and third place went to Shakir B (Gensan team).
In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, Biboy Race Davao City leader, Ruel Brian Plazos said that they really studied their competitors to remain on top.
“The tournament was not easy and the players from the other teams were all great. Some of them have produced champions at Palarong Pambansa and other tournaments,” Plazos said.
Plazos said that despite their competitors’ advantage, they did not give up. “I carefully selected our members and we worked hard so that we can proudly represent Davao City,” he said.
Next year, Biboy Race Davao City is planning to join more table tennis competitions and possibly win more titles.
