Coca-Cola run slated for New Year’s Eve-A A +A

COCA-COLA Davao, in partnership with the City Government of Davao, will hold its Coca-Cola New Year’s Eve Countdown Run on December 31 at SM Lanang Premier Fountain Court.
The 5-kilometer countdown run will start at midnight of December 31 from SM Lanang Premier Fountain Court to Bajada and vice versa.
In a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao, organizer Lorelai Mercado said that the countdown run aims to provide more fun to every Dabawenyo family to enjoy the new year even without firecrackers.
“There are more surprises this year and by 8am on December 31, we will start our games, dance contest and cosplay. Warm up will start at 10 p.m. and by midnight, the fun run will begin,” Mercado said.
She said that the three best finishers from the men, women and kids categories will receive medals from Coca-Cola. The first 200 finishers will also receive medals and special awards will be given to the brightest and most colorful runner, most number of family members, and runner with the cutest pet.
Mercado said that participating runners are increasing every year since they started last year 2011. “From 500 participants in 2011, we now have an expected 700 runners. Families and even running professionals will be joining,” she said.
Registration fee is P350, inclusive of runner’s kit, loot bag, and a raffle coupon for a chance to win runners’ shoes, two Brother laser printers, and a Samsung Galaxy Tab.
She added that a part of the proceeds of the fun run will be donated to typhoon Yolanda victims. (MDC)
