RUNNERS all over the country are invited to join the Davao50 Ultramarathon which will kick off from 3 am to 1 pm on February 23, 2014.
The DAVAO50 Ultramarathon is a scenic and mild-challenging run course, approximately 38km uphill, and 12km downhill on paved roads, asphalt, dirt roads, and a river crossing.
In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, organizer and running enthusiast Blue Tradio said that Davao50 Ultramarathon is ideal for marathon finishers who would like to take up the ultra distance, strategically distanced at 50km.
“This is in line with our advocacy in propagating ultramarathon in Davao. More so, we will be giving the avid runners an opportunity to PR on their 50km, top on their age group, or simply finish their 50km at a reputable timing,” Tradio said.
Tradio said that they are also advocating a “Leave-No-Trace” policy.
“Runners are expected to bring and carry their hydration system such as hydration packs, hydration belts, hand-carry, and among others,” he said.
A total of 40-50 runners are expected to join the ultramarathon. “We are expecting only a small crowd. We do not emphasize on the number, but rather on the experience that runners will have to experience,” he said.
Registration fee is P1650.00 and a fraction of the proceeds will be donated to the Philippine Eagle Foundation.
The ultramarathon will start near Eagles Ridge Resort then the participants will run uphill approximately 38km all the way up to little Baguio, Carmen area, near water district dam and turn around Philippine Eagle Center.
