THE Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings and University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) toted identical 2-0 card to lead their respective groups at the start of the Davao City Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) 2014 men's basketball competition over the weekend.

The Kings tamed the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Bulldogs, 81-50, at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina Gym on Sunday afternoon after hacking out a 76-73 win over DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DMMACSP) in the morning of men's A bracket. DMMACSP, however, bounced back by whipping STI College, 103-75. The latter absorbed its second straight defeat at the hands of RMC, 74-90.

In men's B, UIC sank Mats College of Technology, 85-62, on the heels of pulling off a rousing 82-71 win over Davao Doctors College (DDC).

The UM Cardinals and Emar Human and Environmental College, meanwhile, axed opening wins in the women's event. Be-medaled UM of coach Crisanthemum "Ining" Sarabia toyed with the hapless Emar, 73-54, but Emar recovered by crushing RMC, 74-53.

UM was set to play UIC in the lone men's game Tuesday night at the UIC Gym. (MLSA)
