HEAVY favorites Ella Grace Moulic and Jenni Celine Dizon of Davao City lived up to expectations by bagging gold medals in their respective events as the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2014 came to a close yesterday at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex (DDNSTC) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Moulic, fresh from winning a girls standard chess gold in the 2013 Philippine Olympic Commitee-Philippine Sports Commission (POC-PSC) Batang Pinoy National Championships in Bacolod City Wednesday, added a feather on her cap by sweeping the secondary girls individual and team golds at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan.

Moulic scored perfect five points in the girls individual ranking while teammate Joerlz Gimony of Jose Maria College (JMC) made 4.5 points to take the silver. Mati City's Frince Ezra Vanjo Ocliasa earned 3.5 to claim the bronze.

In the team event, Moulic and Gimony totaled 9.5 points, beating Davao del Sur tandem of Junnessa Lelis and Kythryn Geverola (5.5) and Compostela Valley bets Mary Ann Lanosa and Rhea Mae Maningas (5.0) who settled for the silver and bronze, respectively.

Panabo City's Carl Zirex Sato and John Paul Lopez, meanwhile, combined for 7.5 points to annex the secondary boys team gold over Digos City's John Raymund Vistal and Rhitchel Fritz Lopez (7.0) and Davao del Sur's Jasper Seth Erum and Rafael dela Torre, Jr. (6.5).

Sato (4.5), Vistal (4.0) and Gino Angelo Asuncion (3.5) grabbed the first three spots in the secondary boys individual.

Panabo City player Japheth Aaron Caresosa (4.5 points) copped the elementary boys individual gold over Davao City's Eric Yngayo who took home the silver and Marlou Vistal of Digos with the bronze. The team gold also went to Panabo while Yngayo paired with Kurt John Placencia to give Davao City the team silver. Davao del Sur wounded up with the team bronze.

Unheralded Jan Rachel Manlupig of Mati captured the elementary girls individual gold at the expense of Aileen Shaine Lucas of ComVal and Irish Yngayo of Davao City. ComVal, for its part, emerged champion in girls team while Davao City placed second and Tagum City came third.

Over at the DDNSTC, Ateneo de Davao University netter Dizon routed fellow Dabawenya Shaira Rivera, 8-3, in their secondary girls singles finals. Both players will represent the region to the Palarong Pambansa on May 4 to 12 along with two Davao del Norte players.

Dizon shutout Kezia Cabigas of Davao del Norte, 8-0, in the semis.

Davao City, meanwhile, hacked out an overwhelming 121-104 win over Mati City for the secondary boys basketball gold while the Davao City elementary boys squad trounced Davao del Norte, 71-50, in their titular showdown.

Davao City's secondary girls basketball team also defended its crown by whipping Panabo City, 65-42.
