BEFORE anything else, Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Quick question: What did the boy bird say to the girl bird on Valentine's Day? Answer: Let me call you Tweet heart!
The Country Club Invitational-Don Pocholo Razon Memorial Tournament was held last February 5–9. Cassius Casas won by one shot against Tony Lascuna. His prize money was P1.5 million.
Tony Lascuna ended up in second place, winning P700,000. Jhonnel Ababa finished in third place, winning P450,000. Look! The top 3 winners are from Davao. Looks like it’s going to be another great year for the Davaoeno golfers once again. Congratulations guys! Yehey!
Back to the results. Tied for fourth place were ZanieBoy Gialon, Mars Pucay, Rey Pagunsan, and female amateur player, Princess Superal. A girl with amateur status tied for fourth place. Go girl! And, tied for eighth place were Jay Bayron and Orlan Sumcad. In tenth place was Frankie Minoza.
Philippine Golf Tour Update. The first tournament on the Philippine Golf Tour schedule is the Solaire Open, which is from March 13 – 16, 2014. And this week, on the Ladies PGT, is the LPGT Qualifying School which is from February 12 – 14, 2014.
By the way, Lorena Ochoa, former No. 1 player in the United States LPGA, was in the Manila recently. She was a special guest of the First Everest Academy Golf Cup. She was in the country to conduct golf clinics for the members of the ICTSI players under Ricky Razon.
You know, Lorena Ochoa retired from golf during her peak years because she prioritized having a family. I remember feeling bad when she decided to quit golf. My two idols, Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa, both retired from golf already. Sigh.
Boy: bakit walang “U”?
Girl: Ooops. Sorry, “I MISS U”
News about the PGA Tour. The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was held last February 6-9. Here are the top 10 winners and ties of the pros. Champion – Jimmy Walker. In the pro-am competition, here are the top 3 teams: Team champion – Renner/Harkey Jr. (amateur). In second place – Sabbatini/Mycoskie(amateur). In third place – Cabrera Bello/Desmond(amateur).
Girl: bakit ang daming “U”?
Boy: kasi “I LOVE U.”
This week on the PGA Tour is the Northern Trust Open which is from February 13–16. Tiger Woods will not play. In fact, he will not join the tournament after that as well. The World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship is scheduled on February 19-23, 2014.
Tiger was asked why he won’t join the WGC, and his answer was, “I had planned to take that week off and travel with Lindsey (Vonn) to Sochi, but unfortunately that won’t happen. Instead I will stay home and prepare for the Florida tournaments.” Just in case you did not know, Lindsey Vonn is Tiger’s new girlfriend. She is a professional skier and she won a gold medal during the 2010 Winter Olympics. But because of her knee injury, she will not be able to compete in this year’s winter Olympics.
FYI, Tiger Woods’ current ranking is 221. So far, he has only won $10,919. By the way, are you wondering how much money Tiger has won over the years? I do not have the exact figure. However, FYI, his career earnings reached $1 billion dollars way back in 2009. Tiger Woods will play again at the Honda Classic which is on February 27 – March 2, 2014. In the meantime, follow the other great players on the PGA Tour. So many new faces are starting to shine this year.
Once again, Happy Valentine’s Day to all and Happy Golfing!
