THE province of Davao Del Norte is eyeing to host the 2015 Palarong Pambansa in its state-of-the-art Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex.

It will be Mindanao's turn to host the annual sportsfest for elementary and secondary athletes.

Governor Rodolfo del Rosario, during the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet, said that it is high time for the province to host the Palaro.

"The province has all the qualities for a perfect venue of the 2015 Palarong Pambansa. You name it and Davao del Norte has it," he said.

Del Rosario said that aside from the sports facilities, adequate hotels, reliable communication services and the peace and order of the province will make them qualified for the Palaro hosting.

The hosting of Palarong Pambansa will be determined by the Department of Education through a bidding process that follows the "Visayas-Luzon-Mindanao-Luzon" cycle.

He said the Department of Education assured that Mindanao will be the venue for 2015 Palarong Pambansa.

"Kailangan tayo ang manalo sa bidding. Davao Region should be given the chance and opportunity to showcase our capacity to host the country's premier national sporting event," he said.

He said that additional football and baseball fields are part of their plans to boost the sports complex capability in handling big-ticket sporting events.

He said that in order to win the bid, they will complete all the facilities before 2015.

DDNSTC can accommodate 3,000 people in its main grand stand. It also has a 1,000-seater bleacher, Olympic-sized pool, rubberized track oval, football field, two lawn tennis courts, air-conditioned basketball gymnasium, clubhouse, and a perimeter professional lighting system for night events. (MDC)
