Sta. Ana NHS, UM bag awards in Kite Flying Festival-A A +A

JOHN PAUL JAMORA of Sta. Ana National High School pocketed the champion's prize of P10,000 as the Best Flying Kite in the Kite Flying Festival 2014 held Saturday at Ciudades, Lapanday Properties Philippines Inc. Mandug Road.
Jamora beat Jaymart Olayon of Thompson Christian School and Bobong Bongarong, who took the runner-up honors, respectively. Olayon received P 5,000 as second placer while Bongarong went home with P 3,000.
The Best Original Design Kite was awarded to Masato Maseirin of University of Mindanao (UM) who took the champion's prize of P10,000.
Redene Llupar Jr. of Gabriel Taborine College of Davao (GTCD) settled for the second place while Jonathan Josol as third. Llupar and Josol went home with P 5,000 and P 3,000 respectively.
Ian Neil Batino (GTCD) received the Audience Choice Award, Mark Anthony Advincula of Davao Central High School for the Biggest Kite Award while the Smallest Kite Award was given to Mikaela Ongkingco of Philippine Women's College. They all received P5,000 each.
In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, LPPI sales and marketing Maria Luisa Abaya said that kite flying is just one of the many activities that Dabawenyos can enjoy in Ciudades.
"We want to give awareness to the people that there is a place like this in Davao City where enthusiasts and families can convene and play at the same time," she said.
She said that more activities will be expected in ciudades for this year as they showcase the El Centro or Central Park of Davao City.
The event organized by LPPI in cooperation with Kite Association of Davao and Creative Events Concepts and Management was participated by some 15 schools in Davao City. (MDC)
