Karatedo invitational set March 22-23 at NCCC-A A +A

THE Philippine Shotokan Karatedo Association International will hold the 77th Araw ng Dabaw Karatedo Invitational Tournament that will kick off on March 22 and 23 at the NCCC Mall activity center.
PSKAI regional director Bern Rexander Tacay, in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Promenade 2 of NCCC Mall Davao, said the event aims to promote the sports of karatedo as an Olympic-recognized sport in the grassroots.
“This is one of our advocacies to promote the sport among the youth and become one of the instruments in defeating drug abuse and juvenile delinquency in Davao City,” he said.
Tacay said the tournament will feature men and women and boys and girls divisions. Entered in men’s category are individual kata, open weight and 55 kg., 60kg. and 67 kg. kumite events while individual kata and open weight kumite and 50 kg., 55 kg., and 61 kg. events in the distaff side.
The boys and girls divisions will have advance, intermediate and novice events for six to 15 years old kata and kumite players.
Registration is free; however, Tacay said players must submit a photocopy of their NSO-authenticated birth certificates. Strictly no NSO birth certificate, no play policy will be imposed.
Trophies and cash prizes await winners while all players will receive certificates of participation.
