PWC, UM win ‘Araw’ volley opener

THE Philippine Women's College (PWC) and University of Mindanao (UM) hacked out wins as the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte 77th Araw ng Dabaw Volleyball Tournament opened at the PWC Gym in Juna Subd., Matina Saturday.

PWC recovered from a second set loss to beat Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), 27-25, 27-29, 27-25, in the men's division.

UM escaped a 27-25, 25-22 win over DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP) in another mens' game.


In the women's event, the Carlos "Kaloi" Gabucan, Jr.-coached UM spanked San Pedro College (SPC), 25-21, 25-17 while Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) defeated Jose Maria College (JMC), 25-18, 25-21.

Two more games were being played as of yesterday presstime in the tournament organized by the Balibolista de Dabaw as part of the Araw ng Dabaw Sportsfest bankrolled by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO). (MLSA)
