Ronda champ joins Ciudades MTB race-A A +A

RONDA Pilipinas International 2014 champion Reimon Lapaza of Butuan confirmed to join the Ciudades Tierra Series Cross Country MTB Race set to unreel at 7 a.m. Sunday at the First Mindanao Industrial Park (FMIP) Block 1 Lot 8 Ciudades, Mandug.
Co-organizer Ferdie James Nervida of Davao XC-Mumho Riders bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall Davao, Billiard, Bar and Bowling Center Lanes on Thursday.
He said Lapaza of Cycleline Extreme will compete in the Cross Country Olympics (Circuit) format event along with Dexter Nonato, riders from the Mayor Rody Cycling Team and others from Manila.
He also said some 300 participants will vie for honors in the women's Open, open/elite and age-group categories: 50 years old and above, 40-49, 35-39, 30-34, 20-29 and 15-19 in the six kilometers man-made trail.
"The race is all set. We will make sure that the standard rules of cross country mountain bike will be followed in the event proper at the same time all players will be given insurance in case of accidents," he said.
Nervida added that the top three finishers in the age group categories will receive cash prizes of P4,000, P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.
The top finishers of the women's open will take home P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 while bigger prizes are at stake for the open/elite class - P10,000 for the champion, P6,000 for the runner-up and P4,000 for the third-placer.
All entries will also get a chance to win a brand new GT Bicycle during the raffle draw of the event that serves as a benchmark in cross country mountain bike racing in Davao City.
