Nonato, Arias rule ‘Araw' Duathlon

DAVAO City's Dexter Nonato and Catherine Arias stamped their respective rivals to bag the overall champion titles in the men’s and women’s division, respectively, of the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte 77th Araw ng Dabaw Duathlon competition held recently at Rancho Palos Verdes.

Nonato timed one hour, 14 minutes and 58 seconds to race past Juanito Mahinay (1:15:56) and Patrick Serrano (1:26:44) who wounded up in the next two spots.

Arias, for her part, topped the women’s division with a time of 1:46:17. She outran Gloria Mae Pastorin (1:48:19) and Criselda Lao (1:48:45).

Boy Power Villar, meanwhile, clocked 1:28:56 to annex the men’s 60 above title while Pete Serrano dominated the 50-54 men’s clasas with 1:48:19.

The men’s 40-44 title went to Mark Kong (1:33:30) while the next two spots were occupied by Rodrigo Duterte (1:38:43) and Genovevo Salon (1:38:44). Kathrina Fuentes (2:13:23) and Haidee Digma (2:29:23) took the first two spots in women's 40-44 event.

Jay Collado (1:25:44) sped past Radjie Malamtamban (1:27:22) and Charlemagne Alagad (1:36:12) in men's 35-39. Ivie Lomanta (2:20:39) governed the women’s side over Reymalyn Gutierrez (1:56:58) and Lourdes April Lao (2:14:00).

Juan Alessandro Suarez (0:17:15), Justin Lomanta (0:21:27) and Jake Lhyzter Calipusan (0:23:41), meanwhile, were the top three finishers for the seven to eight category while Cielo Faith Alagad (0:16:05) for the girls’ side.

All winners received prizes from the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO).
