THE Davao Durians Rugby Football Club (DDRFC) men's team opened its campaign with a win, a draw and a loss at the start of the 2014 Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission (POC-PSC) PRFU 7s League Competition at the Nomads Sports Club in Parañaque yesterday.

Davao Durians, coached by Rose Mae Lanticse, first hacked out a rousing 22-0 win over Umak B before forcing a 5-all deadlock with QCPU and then losing to the CBRE Maverics Vipers, 7-20.

The Dabawenyos are playing in a rugby sevens format for the first time.

Lanticse, in a recent interview with Sun.Star Davao, said they aim to gain experience as a team playing in a new format. She also hopes that her players will be selected for the national development team of the Philippine Volcanoes. (MLSA)
