DAVAO City's very own Ella Grace Moulic clinched two more gold medals for Team Philippines at the close of the rapid category of the 15th Asean+ Age-Group Chess Championship held in Taipa, Macau China late Tuesday.

Moulic, who earlier annexed a girls 16-under individual silver and team gold in standard division, swept the individual and team golds of the rapid chess event in the same age-group.

The fourth-seeded Moulic, 16, shared the gold with fellow six-pointer compatriot Shania Mae Mendoza.

Moulic, a Holy Cross of Davao College mainstay, was unbeaten in seven rounds as she posted five wins and two draws. She scored a stunning third round upset top-seed Fide master (WFM) Thi Dieu Ai Vu of Vietnam and outclassed woman candidate master Thuy Vy Bui of Vietnam, Koo Wei Xin Rosamund of Malaysia, Sivanesan Nithyalakshmi of Malaysia and Daophasouk Chantaphavong of Laos. The newest WCM Dabawenya player halved points with second-seed Hoang Anh Nguyen of Vietnam in the seventh round and teammate Mendoza in the fourth.

Vu and another Philippines bet Samantha Glo Revita earned identical five points to share the silver while four-pointers Nguyen and Bui shared the bronze.

Mendoza, Moulic and Revita also captured the girls 16 team rapid gold by garnering a total of 17 points over Vietnam (13.0) and Malaysia (10.0) that ended up with the silver and the bronze, respectively.

John Marvin Miciano, a former player of the Ateneo de Davao University, salvaged a bronze in boys 14-under. He also helped the country take another bronze in the team event that was ruled by Singapore.

Meanwhile, Moulic held the third spot of the blitz event with five points after eight rounds yesterday. Vu and Mendoza paced with six points each.

Moulic hacked out wins over Somphavat, Nguyen, Ganchimeg Batsaikhan of Mongolia and Bui then drew with Vu and Puteri Rifqah Fahada Azhar of Malaysia. Moulic, however, lost to Mendoza and Revita.
