THE 2nd Department of Education Table Tennis Association of Davao City (Dettadac) Table Tennis Tournament is set on June 28 and 29 at the San Roque Elementary School gym along J.P. Laurel Avenue.

Dettadac president FriendeeNuñez, guesting in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) at NCCC Mall B3 Center, said the two-day event is open to all public and private elementary and secondary schools in Davao City.

“Dettadac initiated this event because we want to train our young student athletes especially in table tennis to prepare them as early possible for the coming school meets”, Nuñez said.

He also said it would be an advantage for our student-athletes to be trained prior to competitions in order to raise chances of winning.

In a round-robin type of format, the participants will get to fight everyone in their divisions then will face the top four participants while the winners will battle again during the finals. Winners in each category will receive medals.

It features the elementary and secondary boys and girls singles, and men's open categories. For Deped employees, categories entered are men’s and women's singles events.

Nuñez added a Table Tennis Sports Clinic is set on July 5 at the University of South Eastern Philippines (USEP) Gymnasium. It will be facilitated by Erich Holzchen of Germany, David Watts (USA), Spin Davao’s owner Dennis Garcia, Medatta president Dr. Louie Metran, Joola Davao president Almeyrick Bangayan, and Medatta member Vic Canlas.

The 2nd Dettadac Table Tennis Tournament is organized by San Roque Sports Association together with Dettadac in cooperation with Metro Davao Table Tennis Association (Medatta), Spin Davao, University of South Eastern Philippines (Usep) and Davao City Sports Consumers Cooperative (DCSCC).
