COLUMBIA Football Club (FC) and Philippine College of Technology (PCT)-Medvil beat their respective rivals in Sunday's resumption of the Philippine Sports Commission-Davao Football Association (POC-DFA) Challenge Cup 2014 at the Tionko field.

Edwin Giganto, Jr. and Warren Ravanes netted goals in the 64th and 68th minutes, respectively, to lift Columbia FC's 2-0 win over the Hooligans FC.

PCT-Medvil edged Kilusang Magkaibigan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KMMPC), 4-3. PCT-Medvil started the ball rolling as Jomar Acedo knocked in a goal in the 17th followed up by goals courtesy of playing-coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon (35th), Frances Jay Abrasaldo (59th) and Jenerick Awing (67th). KMMPC, however, made a late surge through goals made by Enrique Romero Salas (72nd), Christian Hager (74th) and Darwin Salavia (90"+1) but fell short to equalize.

Columbia and Hooligans shared the lead of the team standings with 12 points each, toting identical four-win, zero-draw and one-loss card.
The 2-0-3 PCT-Medvil had six points to place third and 0-0-5 KMMPC stayed at the bottom.

Games will resume on Sunday pitting PCT-Medvil against Hooligans FC at 2 p.m. and Columbia FC against KMMPC at 4 p.m.

At stake for the champion is a slot to the Davao Region Smart Inter-Club Championship set in August. (MLSAbalayan)
