Rody riders to join T'nalak challenge

THE Rody Duterte Cycling Team will compete in the elite category of the T’nalak Roadbike Challenge on July 12 in South Cotabato.

PhilCycling deputy secretary for Mindanao Salvador "Jun" Paholio said the Duterte team will be bannered by Eric Dhave Apinar, 20 years old, Darrel Echavez, 20, Jumar Bacharpa, 20, Raymart Legasan, 20, and Jayson Caserez, 16, in the bikefest organized as part of the 15th T'nalak Festival.

Paholio said, "“Kelangan ug mga maayong exposure sa atong mga batang riders para mas matrain sila (We need good exposures for our young riders for them to be prepared and ready),” Paholio added.

He said Dabawenyo s may face strong competition as they are entered in the elite division. "It’s not their usual favorable categories - 23-Youth Under and 18 under."

“Wala kaayo silay time para makaprepare kay nagswkela ug naa may trabaho ang uban (They didn’t have enough time to prepare for the competition because some of them were busy at school and work),” he said.

Despite lack of training, Paholio said he's confident that at least two riders will make it to the top five.

Paholio also bared events lined up in August: Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte Lumba Bisiklita sa Kadayawan slated August 16, Magmala Mountain Bike Park and the Kadaya-Juan Roadbike Challenge on August 17.
He thanked the City Mayor’s Office and Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for their support in these events.

The Rody Duterte Cycling team was formed in August 2013.
