Boxers' weigh-in today

THE Boxing Revolution 1, pitting former World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro against Indonesian fighter Ichal Tobida in the main event, will hold a weigh-in at 10 a.m. today at the second floor of SM Lanang Premier.

Both fighters will clash tomorrow night at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

Sonshine Sports Management, Inc. chief executive officer Manny Piñol, in an phone interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday, said it's all systems go for the staging of the first installment of the boxing series presented by veteran evangelist Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy's sports management team.

He said all boxers are in the city except for Indonesian challenger Ichal Tobida who was delayed due to an expired passport.

"Hindi nacheck ng kanyang manager na expired na pala ang passport niya kaya hinarang siya sa airport tsaka pa inasikaso ang kanyang papeles", he said.

Tobida is set to arrive today as his yesterday flight was also delayed.
The Humberto's Hotel is the official residence of all boxers for this event.

In a separate interview with Coach Richard Dimaluan, Cabalquinto and VIllanueva are excited for the weigh-in tomorrow.

"Nandito kami ngayong sa gym sa Toril hindi para mag-training, preparasyon nila ngayon para sa weigh in bukas," he added.

He expects a full house Almendras gym on fight night.

Boxing Revolution I also features bouts between Lorenzo Villanueva and Hendrick Barongasay and Adonis Cabalquinto and Giovane Rota.

Gates will open at 6 p.m.
