Thursday, July 3, 2014

THE 2014 Fifa World Cup is now on its quarter-finals stage. Aside from the ongoing debate on who's going to win the championship, football world is also abuzz with who's going home with the much-coveted Golden Boot Award.

Who will score the most goals in Brazil? Colombia's James Rodriguez leads the cast with five goals while Neymar of Brazil, Lionel Messi of Argentina and Thomas Muller of Germany each has four goals so far.

Football-loving Dabawenyos also have their own view on the matter.
"Messi for golden boot." - Atty. Guillermo Iroy, Jr., Philippine Sports Commission executive director

"I think it will be Messi, the way Argentina is improving every game. They are improving their offense as the tournament progresses. They are more organized. It will be a close call between Messi and Neymar but Brazil's offense is not that organized," - Chito Malabanan

"Messi, he's showing the best World Cup form of his career." - Buboy Arrieta of Davao Football Community

"Messi as he's leading Argentina." -- coach Albert Ryan Lim of the Ateneo de Davao University

"James Rodriguez is the top goal scorer for me." - Steven Adrianne Chua
"Messi stepped up this year." - Orhan Fernandes

More goals will be expected from Rodriguez, Neymar, Messi and Muller as their respective teams all made it into the quarter-finals. (MLSA with KRP)
