Noces lone city pug in finals-A A +A

JOHN Bryan Noces was the lone Davao City pug who booked a trip to the finals of the 2014 PLDT-Abap National Amateur Boxing Championships in Digos City Saturday.
Noces, representing Calinan-Abap Boxing Team, beat Joepher Montano via split decision in their youth boys lightweight (60 kgs) semi-final clash to arrange a gold medal bout against Sugar Ray Ocana of Cagayan de Oro City in the finals set as of yesterday presstime. Ocana also won by split decision over Joey Tejones of Camiguin in the other semis match.
Seven Pacman-Digos bets also secured tickets to the finals Criz Sander Laurente, Jericho Sahohito, Gerald Alvarez, Freddie Gomera, Jean Minguillan, Ryan Moreno and John Paul Bentoso.
Laurente of Pacman-Digos A eked out a unanimous decision victory over Jonjie Maritana of Tayabas to vie for the gold against Cagayan de Oro's Carlo Paalam who scored a unanimous decision win over Marvin Pomar of Cebu City in junior boys pinweight (46 kgs.)
Sahohito, for his part, subdued Junil Pamisa of Cagayan de Oro in split decision to collide with John Paul ramos of Tayabas, also a split decision victor over Richard Ulvenar of Pacman-Digos A in junior boys light flyweight (48 kgs.) event.
Alvarez pulled off a second round technical knockout win over teammate Jerson Fabricante to meet Kit Ceron Garces of Cebu City in their junior boys flyweight titular showdown. Garces was a unanimous decision winner over Jeffrey Orello of Maasin.
Gomera bested Mario Jaga of Bago City in split decision to test the mettle of Francis Kim Rubio of Tayabas, a unanimous decision winner at the expense of Lawrence Ordonio of La Union in junior boys bantamweight.
Manguilan toppled teammate Judy Ann Oquindo via split decision to next fight Cagayan de Oro's Elaide Pamisa, who stopped Myra Nacario of Leyte Sports Academy in a technical knockout in Round 2, for the junior girls pinweight title.
Moreno also shared the limelight as he crushed Ronnel Ausa of Quezon via TKO in the third round of their youth boys pinweight (46 kgs.) semis. Moreno will next play a first round TKO winner Jaybee Canedo of Camiguin who toyed with the hapless Bily Joe Torres of La Union in the other semis collision.
Bentoso also stayed alive by turning back Jay-R Arcilla of Mandaluyong with a split decision win in their youth boys light flyweight (49 kgs.) semis battle. Bentoso's next assignment is Robert Paradero of Aglayan, Malaybalay who tormented Jovane Casim of Cagayan de Oro.
