Girls take the field, Havaianas supports

AS THE 2014 Fifa World Cup ends Monday with the Argentina-Germany
championship showdown in Brazil, Martish Marketing Company and Havaianas sponsored the 1st Futbol Fest: All Girls 7-A-Side Tournament that opened yesterday at the Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Matina soccer fields.
The event, which attracted a total of 25 girls teams in Davao City, was organized in partnership with the Addu Athletics Office.

Martish Marketing Company managing director Marga Nograles, in an interview, said: "We are riding on the Fifa World Cup being held in Brazil, the home of Havaianas. But we look forward to holding this girls tournament every year as we also want to do something for sports here."
She said Havaianas has a special teen collection in celebration of the Brazil World Cup, featuring popular teams of the quadri-ennial football bonanza including Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Uruguay, Mexico, France, England, Spain and USA, among others.

Nograles said she welcomed the partnership with the Addu Athletics Office, adding, "We are for sports and empowerment of women."
In partial results, the Ateneo Grade School Team A nipped Sakya Football Club, 3-2, while Ateneo Team B routed Ateneo Team C, 9-0, in girls 12-under event. The SOS Children's Village FC, bowed to Ateneo Team A, 1-4.

In girls 16-under, both Ateneo Team B stirkers and DDS Teens toppled their respective rivals Ateneo Team A (1-0) and S. Warriors (7-0). Sakya, however, defeated Ateno Team C while Ateneo Team A edged S. Warriors, 3-2.

Trophies, medals, and special prizes await winners. Most valuable players (MVPs) in each category will also receive prizes.

Martish Marketing Company also held its company sportsfest yesterday.
