As she says, this event of Maharlika Sports Development, Inc. will not only promote sportsmanship, discipline and fair play but also hopes to find new talents wherever they may come from.

Maharlika Sports Development, Inc. Technical Director Dave Peñano, meanwhile, elaborated on Davao City women who excelled in football.

On the other hand, Peñano shared that Davao City's Women's Football Club has won more competitions nationally compared to the boys football team.

Peñano added that Football team has produced talented and renowned women athletes in softball and running.

This feat started way back in 1994 when women's sports teams were first recognized. Until such time in 1995 that Davao City Women's Football team won its first national title. From fourth place, they moved up to the top spot.

Among top athletes who gave recognitions for Davao City, Peñano cited Ching delos Reyes and Merlo Albano.

Merlo Albano was the last player to be selected and included in the women's national football team.

Another group of women later earned recognition in the under-19 category.
One of them was Agot Danton, who played the street football tournament and placed second after the host country Brazil.

Peñano said, "The challenge for us from Maharlika is on how we can continue this activities and keep going forward."

The goal of this event is not only to develop the players, but also the coaches, referees, competition managers, sports development mangers in local areas and other people who are involved in football.

Maharlika is pushing the idealism to not only focus on giving opportunities for girl athletes within the city but also those who came from far-flung areas.

"You will never know that there are talented athletes in the outskirts of Paquibato District waiting to be discovered," Peñano said in vernacular.

Sports Development in essence is providing quality opportunities for anyone and everyone to improve their talents and skills in his or her chosen sports, he added.

SHE Futsal is one of the activities being lined-up by Maharlika for everyone to take the opportunity to excel especially for women.
