Serrano rules Masters event

ABSALON "Romy" Serrano Jr. hit a total of 2,078 pinfalls after 10 games to pocket the Datba Pre-Kadayawan Open Tournament Masters title at the NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center lanes over the weekend.

Serrano received the top purse of P2,500 while runner-up Ian Ancheta claimed P1,700 and runner-up Rene Dalayon went home with P1,200. Ancheta, president of the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba), amassed 2,010 pinfalls while Dalayon scored 2,000.

Art Galendez (1,991), Manny Nierra (1,945), Sonny Dimaano (1,934), Al Langkuno (1,917) and Sammy Talaboc (1,914) grabbed the next five spots of the 18-player field.

Meanwhile, The Originals topped the team event with Ancheta, Nierra and Galendez. Datba Prima, composed of youth bowlers Tessa Dianne Galendez, Manuel Nierra and Ray Snyder, placed second while the team of Serrano, Talaboc and Paul Rabe finished third.

Delfin, Dianne and Dr. Billy Magdale took the first three places of the singles event.

Ancheta, on the other hand, bared that the 9th Datba NBT Kadayawan Open will roll off on August 6 with the masters slated August 10 at the same venue. (MLSA)
