Run for the Future hits road August 9

SOME 4,000 participants are expected when the 2014 Fun Run: Run for the Future hits the road at 5 a.m. on August 9 in an out-and-back course from Jose Maria College (JMC), Buhangin.

DXRD sales and marketing officer Grace Trinidad, who guested at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Fourm held at NCCC Mall B3 Center on Thursday, said they hope to exceed last year's turnout.

"Ang total number ng participants during last year's fun run event are 2,000 kaya naman this year mas marami ang expected namin kasi required magsali ang students of JMC and followers ng Church ni Pastor QUiboloy," Trinidad said.

Trinidad added, "Some 2,000 participants have already registered in our fun run and we expect to hit our target participants before the race."

It will have the Kids 500-meter, 3K, 5K and 10k categories. Registration fees are P150 (kids), P250 (3K), P250 (5K), P350 (10K) inclusive of singlet, race bib, raffle stubs, and snacks.

Cash prizes and medals awaits all top finishers in each category.

The 10K champion will receive P3,000 while the next four placers will go home with P2,000, P1,000, P750 and P500 while the first four 5K finishers will claim P2,000, P1,500, P1,000 and P750. In 3K, the champion will pocket P1,500 while the runner-up will get P1,500 and P750 will go to the third-placer.

Exciting merchandises also await lucky winners of the raffle draw.

Part of the proceeds will benefit the Keepers Club International.

Trinidad, on the other hand, urged all Dabawenyos to join them in run sponsored by MMI Builders, Zoofari, Virginia Food Inc., Skin Essentials,Galilee, FTC Towers and Technolife.

The Vantage Point Promotions of Kenneth Sai will handle the technical side of the event. (KRP)
