"We are expecting a total of 100 participants to compete in different categories," Nuñez said.

The tournament will feature men's and women's open single, men's and women's media/consulate single and boys and girls' 12-under categories in a single round robin elimination format.

Nuñez added that the inclusion of the media category will help media personnel to take a break from work and enjoy the spirit of competition through sports.

Cash prizes await winners. The men's and women's single champions will each take home P6,000 plus trophy while the next three placers will pocket P5,000, P2,500, and P1,500. The men's and women's single media/consulate champion will pocket P 4,000 while the next three placers will receive P3,000, P2,000, and 1,000. The 12-under top four winners in in two divisions will claim P1,000, P750, P500 and P300, respectively.

Nuñez urged interested players to join the event sponsored by the Indonesian Consulate of Davao in cooperation with Metro Davao Table Tennis Association (Medatta) and Spin Davao Table Tennis Sports Center. (KRP)
