ORGANIZERS expect a drop in the Lumba Bisiklita and KadayaJuan Road bike Challenge due to additional requirements set by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office for competing riders.

The Lumba race is set tomorrow while the roadbike event is slated Sunday. PhilCycling deputy secretary-general for Mindanao Salvador "Jun" Paholio, Jr., guesting in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall B3 Center, said the preparation for both races was stalled because of additional requirements such as physical examination and medical clearances were required by the Sports Development Division-City Mayor Office (SDD-CMO).

"I'm expecting smaller number of delegates and participants for both events because of the hassle brought about by these medical requirements," Paholio said.

The LumbaBisikleta and KadayaJuan Roadbike Challege which will take an out-and-back course in Barangay Magtuod and Barangay Maa, respectively, earlier expected 500 riders.

Paholio also hopes that the prizes for the winners will be given immediately after the event.

"Hindi koalam kung matutuloy pa angibang participants from outside Davao," he added.

Paholio said, "Hassle kasi yan sa participants kasi matagal pa makuhaang results ng laboratory tests sa urine and stool and additional fee pa yan sa kanila so I'm really disappointed."

The LumbaBisikleta challenge features open elite, 23-under, junior (18-under), Veterans, and Masters categories while the KadayaJuan Roadbike Challenge will banner the team, individual, and executive categories.

Routes of the race, he said, will not go through the congested and frequent traffic zone to prevent accidents and injuries.

Registration fee of P500 will be collected in the KadayaJuan Road bike Challenge while the Lumba Bisikleta registration is free.

Veteran riders Dexter Nonato, Eric DhaveApinar, Mark Echavez, Reymart Legasan, Jayson Caseres, Roderick Donill, Arnold Regodon, Jumar Bacharpa, and Brylle Cocjin are set to compete in the said race.

The race is sponsored by the city government of Davao, Congressmen Sid Ungab, Emperador Light, Jaltan Food Centrum, Davao Livestrong Builders Corporation, AG Global, and Racing Edge.
