PCT-Medvil, RMC defeat opponents

THE Philippine College of Technology (PCT)-Medvil and Rizal Memorial Colleges improved their standings after beating their respective rivals in the recent resumption of the DFA Inter-Collegiate Tournament at Tionko field.

PCT-Medvil blanked Ateneo de Davao University, 2-0, with playing-coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon and Jenerick Awing knocking in the goals in the 75th and 79th minutes, respectively.

Carreon, in a text message to Sun.Star Davao, said: "Thanks to the good performance of the boys we managed to escape the very defensive Ateneo."

RMC, for its part, edged University of Mindanao, 3-2. UM scored the first two goals courtesy of Jerard Bierneza (23rd) and Bal Morata (31st) but RMC bounced back with goals coming from Imardino Polo (50th), Edwin Giganto Jr. (67th) and Aldinn Tiboron (85th).

RMC kept the top spot of the team rankings with nine points following a clean 3-0-0 win-draw-loss slate while 2-0-1 PCT-Medvil took the second spot with six points. The 1-0-2 UM had three points for third place while 0-0-3 Ateneo was at the bottom.

Games resume today pitting RMC against Ateneo at 2 p.m. and PCT-Medvil against UM at 3 p.m.

The tournament is organized by the Davao Football Association. (MLSA)
