51st Southern Ladies Open at Apo Golf Club

-A A +A

I AM going to make this short as I am playing in the 51st Southern Ladies Open and today is the final round. It is a three-day event that started last Wednesday, August 20, 2014. There are players from Manila who came to participate, and there were several who came all the way from Baguio.
The Junior Ladies of the ICTSI are also here to participate in the event. They are: Sofia Chabon, Abby Arevalo, Yuka Saso, Samantha Martirez and Princess Superal. If you remember, about a month ago, Princess Superal won in the 2014 US Girls' Junior Championship which was held in Arizona, USA.

I was talking to Coach Bong Lopez a couple of days ago and I asked him what happened during the final round of the US Girls' Junior Championship. Ces Superal beat Marijosse Navarro of Mexico in a very exciting way. I wish they would show that on Philippine television. It is definitely worth watching.

If you want to see Ces Superal and the other junior ladies of the ICTSI in action, today is your last chance to see them play. They will probably tee off around 8am.

As I am writing this, (Wednesday night), only the first day has concluded. And, FYI, Superal has the lead with a score of -4. I was two flights ahead of them. By the way, Apo Golf Club is one of the toughest courses in the country, and watching them play, wow, they made golfing at Apo Golf seem so easy.

The Southern Ladies Open is an event of the National Golf Association of the Philippines. A few months ago, the Ngap had its election of officials and here is the new set of directors and officers: chairman - Aurelio Montinola; president - Carlos 'Caloy' Coscolluela; vice president - Conrad Benitez II; Secretary General - Jose Iñigo; treasurer - Al Panlilio; auditor - Jun Galindez; directors - Erwin Temena, Mike Carr, Atty. Harry Paltongan, Col. Alberto Tan and Dr. Philip Juico.

Here in Davao to man the event is president Caloy Coscolluela, who replaced Tommy Manotoc as president. And with him is son, Boom Coscolluela, who replaced Jake Ayson. FYI, Jake Ayson has retired.
That's it for now. Good luck to all of us playing at the 51st Southern Ladies Open Golf Tournament!
