MULTI-ATHLETE Chino Sy Tancontian is all geared up for the upcoming Southeast Asian Junior and Cadet Wrestling Championship set on March 31 in Thailand.

The 16 year-old wrestler and judo specialist from Davao Wisdom Academy (DWA) will compete in three different categories including Greco Roman, beach wrestling and freestyle wrestling.

"Every day po ako nag pa-practice since nung December 2016 pa po, kaya ready na po ako,” Tancontian said.

Tancontian recently became a member of the Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP). He was invited by WAP president Alvin Aguilar and secretary general Marcos Balda on December 2016 to join the team.

With blessing of his father Paolo, who is an eight time judo national champion, the young athlete joined the organization.

Just like his older sister Sydney, who recently took home two gold medals in the Singapore Open Judo Championships on March 12, the younger Tancontian hopes to accomplish his international stint with a high note as he set his sights on bringing home three gold medals.

Tancontian was also one of the outstanding athletes who were awarded by the Davao City Mayors Office, recognizing his double gold medals in the recent Batang Pinoy 2016 National Championships.

With a boosted morale, Tancontian said he will do his best to bring honor for the country just like her dad and sister.
