EDGARDO "Bing" Grandeza was elected as the new chairman of the Philippine Moo Duk Kwan-Soo Bahk Do Inc. (PMDK-SBDI) during its general assembly on September 16 at the PMDK-SBDGI Central Gym at 51 Santiago Artiaga Street, Davao City.
PMDK corporate secretary Angela Grandeza, in an e-mail to SunStar Davao, said former chairman Master Manuel J. Grandeza Jr., a sixth Dan blackbelt, declared his retirement to give way to a new management team who will be spearheaded by Bing Grandeza, a 5th Dan blackbelt who is the club master and the chief instructor of the Blue Warriors Club in Davao City.
Grandeza's former post, which was the PMDK president, was occupied by Ben Sur, who is the former president of the Davao City Sports Council Inc. and the founder of the United Bodybuilders Association.
"Chairman Bing (Grandeza) and President Ben Sur both recognized the exemplary leadership of Master Jojo who started teaching the art of Tang Soo Do in Davao City on June 29, 1967. He was the club master and instructor of the Blue Knight Moo Duk Kwan Club. He was elected chairman of the Board in Sept 2013 until his retirement in 2017. The newly-elected Board of Directors declared Master Jojo Grandeza as chairman emeritus," Angela said.
The general membership has elected nine members of the Board of Directors who immediately elected from among themselves the officers of the National Board.
The newly-elected officers are as follows: Edgardo "Bing" Grandeza (chairman), Ben Sur (president), Wilfredo Grandeza (vice chairman), Herbert Jardinel (vice president), Angela Grandeza (corporate secretary), Bernard Pedres (treasurer), Johnny Ti (auditor), lawyer Servillano Lorenzo III (board member) and Mikhail Ponce De Leon (board member).
