SOME 200 participants are expected to compete in the 2nd Samal 50 slated October 14 and 15 at the Casa Estrella Beach Camp in Penaplata, Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos).
Race committee Karla Degrano of Base Camp, in an interview with SunStar Davao, said runners from Manila, Bukidnon City, Davao City, Panabo City, Butuan City and Igacos will compete in 22 kilometers and 50-kilometer event presented by Base Camp and Bagani Active Gear.
"Defending champion Heda Riola of Team Kapwa will try to retain her crown in the women's division but Archie De Asis of the Philippine National Police hasn't confirmed yet," Degrano said.
Degrano said they would want to showcase the beauty of Puting Bato which is known to be the highest peak of Igacos.
Registration fees are P2,000 (50K) and P1,500 (22k) inclusive of race vest, race bib, medal and post-race meal.
Registration is ongoing at Base Camp shop, 2nd Floor Red Cross Building, Roxas St., Davao City.
