THE two-day Samal 50 Half and Ultra Trail Marathon kicks off on Saturday, October 14, in an out-and-back course from Casa Estrella Camp Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal.
Karla Degrano bared this to SunStar Davao Friday.
She said that 150 entries have signed up for the race that features 22-kilometer and 50K categories.
"Participants come from as far as Antique, Cagayan de Oro City, Bukidnon and General Santos City. The rest are from Davao City, Tagum City and Panabo City," Degrano said.
Trail runners, she added, will get to see the beauty of Hagimit Falls and the highest peak of Igacos - Puting Bato.
She clarified that the 50K check-in time is at 10 p.m. today after the 9:30 p.m. race briefing but the gun start is 12 midnight Sunday. The 22K check-in time is at 1 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, following the 12:30 a.m. race briefing and the gun start is set at 3 a.m.
The race is organized by Basecamp and Bagani Active Gear in partnership with Casa Estrella Beach Camp in cooperation with Davao del Norte and Igacos.
Walk-in registrants may still sign up.
Registration fees are P2,000 (50K) and P1,500 (22K) inclusive of Bagani Active Gear race vest, a finisher's medal, a post-race meal and a race bib.
