ELITE runner Jonathan Pido capped his 2017 stint with a superb finish winning the champion's trophy in the Rizal 55K Ultramarathon that came to a close last December 30 at the Sunset Beach Park in the Island Garden City of Samal.

Pido, donning the Philippine National Police colors, went on a grand slam following the win.

He finished the 55-kilometer distance course within five hours and 37 minutes which quite longer than his past record which was 4:51.59.

In a Facebook interview, Pido described the route "hot and spicy" considering its uphill and downhill trail.

However, Pido said he was able to pull it off because of hard training, proper hydration and determination.
