Davao, Singapore start tchoukball encounter today

THE Philippines and Singapore tchoukball teams will try to test their strength against each other when they meet Monday morning at the Davao City Recreation Center.
The visiting Singapore Crosslink Tchoukball Team will be headed by Jeff Ang, secretary general of the Tchoukball Association of Singapore (TBAS) and currently the head coach of the Singapore national tchoukball team that placed second behind powerhouse Chinese Taipei in the recent 4th Asia Pacific Tchoukball Championships in Singapore last July.
The teams playing in the friendship games are the PH-Davao men's and PH-Davao juniors teams. Also the PH women's team will be having an exhibition game.
Coach Bliar T. Cuares, PTF vice president for Mindanao, said this will be a good tune up games for the local teams against the visiting Singapore team in preparation for the upcoming 1st Philippine Open Tchoukball Championships, which will be held in Davao City on January 28-30.
The First Philippine Open Tchoukball Championships will be participated by powerhouse Chinese Taipei, current world tchoukball champion and champion during the 4th Asia Pacific Tchoukball Championship held in Singapore.
Also participating is Singapore, currently ranked fourth in the World Tchoukball Federation; Malaysia, ranked third in the Asia Pacific Tchoukball Federation; and Team PH-Bacolod City, which will be fielding one men's team and two juniors teams.
The Davao versus Singapore Friendship Games is co-sponsored by the Vice Mayor's Office (VMO) and sanctioned by the Philippine Tchoukball Federation under PTF president Pastor Gary V. Visitacion.
