Medvil, PWC top Acosta Cup foes

MEDVIL and the Philippine Women's College (PWC) beat their respective opponent to share the lead in Bracket B with their unbeaten slates in the 7th Acosta Cup Ladies Open Football Tournament at the Tionko field over the weekend.
Medvil nipped the University of the Philippines (UP) Min Varsity, 1-0, courtesy of Jeanala Borje's goal in the 13th minute.

The PWC booters edged Tambayan, 1-0, with Lederine Dono knocking in the loan goal in the 25th.
Medvil and PWC are each toting 2-0 records in the meet organized by the Davao Football Association (DFA) and sponsored by Jollibee and RDL Pharmaceuticals.
The UP Min Varsity and Tambayan occupied the cellar with two straight defeats each.
In bracket A, Team United kept its lead by hacking out back-to-back wins. It defeated University of the Philippines (UP) Alumni Lasang FC-Navarro by lopsided scores of 6-0 and 10-0.
UP Alumni has yet to score a point having lost its past two games while Lasang suffered its first setback in the league established by former councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta to promote women's football in Davao.
