LEE Vann "The Slayer" Corteza bowed to Ronato "Volcano" Alcano, 7-11, Sunday night in the finals of the 2010 Sangsom Pattaya 9-Ball Invitational Pool Competition at the Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya, Thailand.

Alcano received the top purse of 300,000 Baht while Davao City-born Corteza, the reigning Predator 10-Ball World Tour Sweet 16 champion, claimed the runner-up prize of 50,000 Baht.

Davao girl booters named to RP squad

SIX girl booters from Davao City have been named to the Philippine team that will see action in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Women's Championship 2011-Qualification Round 1 Group A tournament, which gets underway on October 15 to 24 at the University of Makati football field in Makati.

Named to represent the country in the coming international tournament are Kyrhen Angela Dimaandal, Janna Raizel Barcemo, Noreen Kim Maligad, Alyssa Marie Ang and Erika Lorraine Turtur of the Ateneo de Davao University, and Sheinna April Chavez of the Holy Child Academy of Davao.

Corteza barges into Pattaya 9-Ball semis

TWO-TIME national champion Lee Vann "The Slayer" Corteza of the Philippines scored back-to-back victories to advance to the semifinal round of the 2010 Sangsom Pattaya 9-Ball Invitational Pool Competition at the Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya, Thailand over the weekend.

The 31-year-old Corteza, whose stint in Thailand is backed up by Kopiko and Energen, ousted Nitiwat Kanjanasri of Thailand, 9-4, in the Last 16 and Fu Chi Wei of Chinese-Taipei, 9-7, in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals of the single knock-out 9-Ball tournament.
