SAMMY Talaboc climbed his way from the fifth spot to capture the Datba Lanemasters monthly finals crown at the NCCC Mall B3 lanes over the weekend.
Talaboc scored an upset over twice-to-beat qualifying leader Manny Nierra in two straight games to pocket the P5,000 cash prize. He also went home with the creatively-designed champion's trophy.

Nierra settled for P3,000 runner-up prize while Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) president Virgilio "Billy" Magdale got P1,000 for placing third.
Ronald Martin and Sonny Dimaano, who grabbed the next two spots, each received P700.
Nierra earlier hit a total of 1,253 pinfalls after six games to gain the No. 1 spot and the twice-to-beat advantage in the finals. Magdale garnered 1,252 for second place followed by Martin and Dimaano, who each had 1,215 to share the third and fourth places. Talaboc earned the last ticket to the finals with 1,199 pinfalls.
