Tan, Paholio quit DCSCI

AN OFFICIAL and a member resigned from the Davao City Sports Council Inc. (DCSCI).

Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) Dava chair Rommel Tan Thursday told Sun.Star Davao that he e-mailed his resignation letter to DCSCI president Davao City Councilor Peter Laviña Thursday.

DCSCI is an umbrella organization of over 20 local and regional sports associations.

"I just sent my resignation letter but I have already texted him earlier about it. It's time to move on and just continue with my program for the youth," said Tan, who mentored the Davao City-bannered Team Philippines in the just-concluded karatedo championships in Singapore.

He said he would rather not elaborate on his reasons but claimed he can still continue with his grassroots development program even if he is no longer a member with DCSCI.

PhilCycling Davao chief Salvador Paholio Jr., also the vice-president for Mindanao, Thursday confirmed through a text message that he also resigned from the group.

Paholio, who was elected DCSCI assistant secretary last April, also refused to elaborate.

"I'd rather keep my reasons to myself," Paholio said.

Sources said there are more DCSCI members who might also resign and follow the course of Tan and Paholio.

Paholio had been a long-time active member of the group during the time of the late president Victorio Sai. (MLSA)
