TWO men were injured when a tornado hit Barangay Lumbo in Valencia, Bukidnon, Tuesday afternoon.
Two sitios in the barangay -- -- Pakangan and Sinanlayan -- were badly hit by the tornado that occurred around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Juvinoni Eliaconi, coordinator of the Valencia City Disaster Coordinating Council (CDCC), said a total of 84 houses were hit: 16 were destroyed and 68 damaged.
Eliaconi said five electric posts of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines were uprooted by the tornado.
The cities of Malaybalay, Valencia, Maramag, and Kibawi experienced power failure due to the tornado.
The barangay official said the tornado struck right after the heavy rains, forcing residents to flee to a safer place.
The local government of Bukidnon has assisted the victims of the disaster. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
