THE white runway was splashed with hues of the rainbow. It's every woman's dream parading before her eyes, beautiful clothes divinely accessorized. The new pair of Choos in her closet is searching for its perfect match and she may just have found it sashaying on the ramp.
A year after these young fashionista opened shop, Marga N. and Tisha A. (soon to be D.), the movers behind MarTish, blew one candle on their white cake frosted with stylish Dabawenyas wearing the store's choice pieces.
If there is one wonderful thing I can say about this whole affair, it is having the women coming out all glammed up -- and it is not HIjos de Dabaw. It was great time to give their favorite designer pieces see the light of day (or night) and grace the socials of the city. Beautiful garments on beautiful women, what a sight to behold. This is a feel good moment, the resurgence of chi-chi dressing in the metropolis.
After the ramp came the martinis, tamarind martinis to be exact. A new flavor for Davao, sweet with a hint of spice and only a stylish woman like Carmina, Bangkok Wok's first lady, can serve to the champagne and wine crowd.
It was the after show gathering at the Thai joint where the excitement about the fantastic event continued. The topic of clothes, pieces to die for and wouldn't be caught dead in (politely phrased, of course), and covetable accessories lingered on over martinis and mojitos and the restaurant's delectable and equally as chic cuisine.
You can call it red carpet wining and dining with all the personalities present. It was filled to the brim but it would be great to have the rest of the show crowd come as well and let the party overflow with style and yet not lose the substance.
MarTish raised my hopes up, they are uplifting and embedding the dress-up-and-be-beautiful tradition anew that I can't wait for the next bash to catch them all in their stylish best while Carmina has tickled my taste buds with her Thai concoctions making me wish I was in Thailand and bask in their food and fashion (I discovered another being who fancies Thai designer clothes as well.)
So what's next on the night agenda?
Of Apples & Lemons.
Ladies with an attitude, men as well. Along the red carpet, they struck a pose. They can be on the runway. They look like they flew out of the pages of a fashion magazine. It was an eye-opener and great night to catch sight of Davao's young women lifting the Davao IS chic banner up. The affair called for stylishness and it came flooding in. If this becomes the norm in all of Davao's affairs, the city will be raining with apples for days to come.
